There are two page editing options available on WikiFoia. One is called "Point & Click" and the other is called "classic" It is easy to create links using either one by following these steps:
P&C: Type and highlight the text that you want to be the link, then click on the button called "Link". A pop-up box will appear that will give a few options for linking.
If the page that you want to link to is another page in WikiFoia, select "Wiki Page" as your link type. From there select either "New Page" or a page that has already been completed, depending on your needs. Check the bottom two boxes to make sure that the new page name and the linking text (whatever you highlighted) are correct.
If the page that you want to link to is from outside of WikiFoia, choose the URL option, then paste that URL into the box for it. Double check that the link text box is showing the correct text.
Click "OK" and you are done! Save the page and click on your new link to see that it is working.
Classic: If you are familar with HTML then you may already have a preferred method of creating links, if so, use that. If you are not familiar with HTML, but don't like using the P&C editor (like me!), there is an easy way to create links.
Type a left bracket: [
Type (or paste) the URL of the page you are linking.
Type a vertical line: |
Insert the text that you want to show up as the link.
Type a right bracket: ]
It should look like this in the editor when you are done:
[http:// YOUR URL HERE.org|YOUR TEXT HERE]
It should look like this on the Wiki when you are done:
YOUR TEXT HERE
